CHAPTER 5

Sitting in the amber glow of the candlelight, Jimmy gazed at the blood that crawled across the floor, pushed on by Catherine's still beating heart.

In Catherine's world, there was nothing, no sight, no sound, just the faint echoes of her heart. She could feel nothing, not even the pain of her body shutting down.

His hand stamped at the blood, making it splash, and he giggled and laughed. His fingers tracing images in it, little people and houses. This was much cooler than finger painting with paint.

Catherine was not to go quietly, and her body spasmed one last violent time, then all fell silent, except for Jimmy's innocent pleasures in her blood. His blood angel lay serene, wings outstretched for her long journey.
